This is me, on the left. I find it hard to give myself one job title, as I am, have been, and will be this year an education multi-tasker.
Teacher - I taught in a special school for autistic children the year after I graduated, and then did the Teach First programme (a fast-track route into teaching with a focus on addressing educational disadvantage). I taught Science, Religious Education and Psychology in a comprehensive in London for three years, and was Head of Psychology for two.
Researcher - This project is the biggest piece of research I've undertaken to date (spanning six countries so far). Prior to this trip, I interviewed Head teachers of Academy schools for my Masters thesis on their perceptions of the schools' autonomy, before and after conversion. I've also contributed to written pieces for the Institute for Public Policy Research, Teach First, LKMco and the Teacher Development Trust.
Consultant - While doing my desk based research for this project, I've also been working as a freelance consultant. Major pieces of work include:
Author - I have written articles on education for Primary Teacher magazine, and the Times Educational Supplement. This blog (insideclassrooms.com) has a very international readership; visitors from 115 countries and counting. I have also written a book, which will be published by Unbound in December 2016. You can pre-order a copy here.
